50,000 Oasis Reunion Tickets Canceled due to Overwhelming Demand

Published:

There are reports of approximately 50,000 Oasis tickets in the U.K. facing cancellation due to violations in ticket purchasing.

The BBC has revealed that numerous Oasis reunion concert tickets sold on resale ticket platforms are at risk of being canceled as Live Nation and SJM, the promoters, have identified irregularities in how the tickets were acquired.

Out of the 1.4 million tickets available for the U.K. shows, over 10 million fans from 158 countries attempted to secure seats, resulting in a quick sell-out. Subsequently, tickets appeared on resale sites at inflated prices shortly after.

What Were the Violations?

Fans in the U.K. were instructed to only buy tickets at face value through Ticketmaster or their resale partner, Twickets. However, some buyers disregarded this and resorted to other resale platforms, selling tickets at higher prices. Live Nation and SJM discovered that around four percent of the tickets (nearly 50,000) ended up on unauthorized sites.

Due to these breaches of ticket sale conditions, the affected tickets are set to be canceled. In addition to appearing on unauthorized sites, it is suspected that buyers exceeded the limit of four tickets per household and used multiple identities to acquire tickets.

A spokesperson stated, “These terms and conditions were implemented to combat secondary ticketing companies profiting from reselling tickets. Only four percent of tickets have been found on resale sites, whereas some major tours can see up to 20 percent of tickets on unauthorized platforms.”

“All parties involved with the tour continue to urge fans not to purchase tickets from unauthorized websites as some may be fraudulent and subject to cancellation.”

What About Buying From Unauthorized Resale Sites?

Despite warnings from promoters regarding ticket cancellations for purchases outside the guidelines, secondary ticketing company Viagogo expressed intentions to continue selling tickets for the tour.

Matt Drew of Viagogo mentioned, “Two percent of Oasis tickets are available on Viagogo and Stubhub.

“We will sell them as per regulatory guidelines to meet consumer demand.”

Ticket resale in the U.K. is legal if tickets are acquired legitimately, with consumer protection laws in place. This may lead to challenges for canceled tickets.

What Happens With the Canceled Tickets?

Individuals who believe their tickets were canceled erroneously will have the opportunity to discuss with ticketing agents for investigation before next year’s concerts.

For those not disputing the cancellations, the tickets will be resold through Ticketmaster in the upcoming days and weeks. Refunds are typically issued to rule violators, and tickets are reassigned to new buyers with fresh barcodes.

Currently, only the Oasis U.K. dates seem affected by the ticketing cancellations.

Oasis in 2025

Following a tumultuous split in 2009 and years of estrangement, Oasis siblings Liam and Noel Gallagher have reconciled and planned a 2025 tour reunion. In addition to U.K. dates, performances in North America and Australia have been scheduled.

The tour is expected to commence on July 4, 2025, in Cardiff, Wales. Detailed information on dates, cities, venues, and tickets can be found on the Oasis website.
