Exploring a New World of Music

Dubbed as “an introduction to a whole new world”, ‘Meaning’s Edge’ explores a variety of production techniques that Djrum has been honing since his debut EP in 2010. This time around, he has taken a lighter and quicker approach to writing music, even incorporating his own flute playing across the record.

Flute Synthesis

Using various flutes such as Bansuri, Shakuhatchi, Western, and Classical, Djrum has synthesized these sounds to create an airy atmosphere throughout the half-hour-long release. Each flute is coherently blurred, resulting in a unique listening experience that is characteristic of Djrum’s musical style.

Diverse Soundscapes

By drawing upon his recent experiences and life journey, from studying ethnomusicology to countless hours of DJing, Djrum showcases a variety of soundscapes on ‘Meaning’s Edge’. The EP features elements of OG dubstep, glittering braindance, and post-classical exploration, with hints of genres like grime and influences from Tanzania’s hyperspeed singeli style of dance music.

Lead Single ‘Codex’

To give fans a taste of what’s to come, Djrum has shared the lead single ‘Codex’ alongside the EP announcement. Be sure to check it out for a preview of the musical journey that Djrum has crafted.
