Extended Version of “Jung Kook: I Am Still” Documentary Set for Release

Following its limited theatrical release, “Jung Kook: I Am Still,” a feature documentary chronicling the solo journey of Jung Kook, band member of K-pop icons BTS, the film’s producers are to launch an extended version. It will reach cinemas from Oct. 11.

“Jung Kook: I Am Still – The Party Edition” includes the complete documentary plus an additional 20 minutes of singalong videos. The producers Hybe Corp. and distributor Trafalgar Releasing describe the addition as “transforming the cinema experience into the ultimate fan celebration.”

Release Details and Distribution

‘Jung Kook: I Am Still – The Party Edition” will be released in limited cinemas across the U.S, Mexico, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Ticket sales begin online from Friday. It is distributed worldwide by Trafalgar, except in Korea and Japan.

In Korea, it is distributed by CJ CGV. In Japan it is distributed by Avex. Details of the extended version’s release in these two countries have yet to be finalized.

Insights into Jung Kook’s Journey

Directed by Junsoo Park, the film delves into the eight-month period following Jung Kook’s historic solo debut with the platinum-certified single “Seven (feat. Latto)” in July 2023.  The film offers an intimate look at Jung Kook’s creative process, his work ethic, and the unique challenges faced by a global popstar.

Global Success of the Documentary

The current version of the film reached 4,100 cinemas in some 120 countries and regions. In North America, it reached ninth place at the box office in its opening weekend and now has a cumulative gross of $3.12 million. Trafalgar reports that the film opened No.1 in Brazil, No. 2 in Mexico and Chile, No. 3 in Argentina, Colombia and Peru in its opening weekend. It also reached the top ten in Germany, Italy and Malaysia. In Korea, it has grossed $730,000 since releasing on Sept. 18.
