Sabrina Carpenter’s Faux Arrest Gag

The Stranger Things actress became the latest person to be faux-arrested by Carpenter for being too hot during the singer’s State Farm Arena performance on Tuesday. The moment is part of a running gag on Carpenter’s ongoing Short N’ Sweet tour that sees her shoutout someone in the audience, pretend to arrest them with police sirens blaring, and then gift them fuzzy pink handcuffs prior to playing her song, “Juno.”

Caught on Camera

In video footage from the event posted on TikTok, Carpenter can be seen surveying the crowd before a certain actress catches her eye. “Guys, one second, I’m really distracted right now, because I see this gorgeous girl. Girls, can you come out here?” she said, calling forth two of her dancers. “I fell and I can’t get up. This girl is so hot. Who are you? What is your name?”

The camera then cut over to reveal Brown, sending the crowd into a frenzy. As Brown attempted to shout her name to Carpenter, red and blue police lights began to flash and the words “you’re under arrest for being too hot” were featured onscreen.

Unexpected Reactions

“Millie?” Carpenter asked. “I’ve never fallen in love at a concert before, but stranger things have happened, so.” Brown, in response, gave the singer a knowing look before bursting into laughter and putting her hands to her chin. 

Carpenter let it be known that she took no pleasure in having to take Brown into custody. “It’s so unfortunate we have to arrest you because you’re so beautiful,” she said. “That sucks.”

But Brown was all for it, sticking her hands out for the cuffs to be placed upon her wrists. “She said, ‘Please arrest me,’” a seemingly surprised Carpenter said before she too began laughing. “No, I don’t know what to do!”

Carpenter went on to reveal that all the attention made her long yellow bedazzled skirt feel embarrassed, just before it dropped from her hips to reveal a shorter version underneath it. “What have you done to me?” Carpenter asked Brown. “Oh my God, not my skirt falling off in front of so many people!”

The “Espresso” star then presented Brown with a pair of pink handcuffs, adding, “These are for you, my darling.” She dedicated her song “Juno” to Brown as well.

Behind the Scenes

Brown is currently in Atlanta shooting the fifth and final season of Stranger Things and, according to an additional TikTok, attended the show alongside her costar, Noah Schnapp.

Their castmate David Harbour recently revealed during a live taping of the Happy Sad Confused podcast that the entire cast was “uncontrollably crying” when they did a table read of the Netflix series’ finale.

“The end of this episode when we were reading it, just us reading it, about halfway through, people started crying,” Harbour recalled. “Then about the last 20 minutes, it was just uncontrollably crying, waves of different people.” A release date for the final season has yet to be announced.
