The death of a legend typically sparks discussions about who might be capable of retelling their extraordinary life stories on television or in film. Their inspiring journeys through challenges and victories ought to be immortalized for future generations, with biopics playing a crucial role in preserving these legacies.
With the departure of Quincy Jones, a question has been raised about who could accurately portray the legendary figure in a biographical account of his life. Jones, who has been depicted by an array of stars over time, disclosed in a 2018 GQ profile that he would prefer Donald Glover to play him in a biopic, specifically a ten-part biographical TV series.

According to the GQ profile published in January 2018, the project was in its preliminary stages, and there has been no update on its development or any announcement about Glover being officially offered the role.
Larenz Tate, who played the musical genius in the 2004 biopic ‘Ray’ about Ray Charles, has expressed his wish to portray the legend once more. In an interview with AL.com in October 2023, he stated that reprising his earlier role is a top priority for him.
While Tate is eager to revisit Jones’ life on screen, he is scheduled to play another music icon, Berry Gordy, in the forthcoming biopic about Michael Jackson, titled ‘Michael’. Meanwhile, Kendrick Sampson, known for his role in ‘Insecure’, has been cast to play Jones.
