Stevie J claims that Diddy was heavily influenced by drugs during the time of his assault on Cassie in 2016.
Stevie J’s Perspective on Diddy’s Legal Issues
TMZ has been closely following Diddy’s legal troubles and accusations in their documentary series. Stevie J, a longtime friend and producer of Diddy, was featured in the series and shared his thoughts on the allegations against the media mogul, particularly regarding the video of Diddy attacking Cassie, which was released by CNN.
“It really shocked me,” Stevie J expressed in the video. “I always believed and talked about what I knew to be true about Sean Combs. After seeing the video, I met him in Miami, and we had a conversation. I conveyed how deeply affected I was by it. I never thought he was capable of such actions.”
Stevie J mentioned that Diddy was upset about the video’s release and was also distressed by his own behavior in the footage.
“I understand that he was going through a dark phase in his life,” Stevie J added. “He was heavily involved in drugs, and it was a dark time for him.”
XXL has contacted Diddy’s team for a statement.
Diddy Addresses the Cassie Video
Previously, Diddy publicly addressed the video showing him assaulting Cassie in the hallway of the InterContinental Hotel in 2016 and issued an apology on social media.
“Reflecting on the darkest moments in your life is challenging, but sometimes it’s necessary,” Diddy shared in his video. “I was in a bad place—I hit rock bottom—but I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then, and I’m still disgusted now. I sought professional help, went to therapy, and rehab. I asked for God’s mercy and grace.”
The video of Cassie surfaced five months before Diddy’s arrest on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation for prostitution. The founder of Bad Boy has pleaded not guilty, with his trial set to begin on May 5, 2025. He has faced numerous lawsuits alleging physical and sexual abuse in the past year, all of which he denies.
