Authorities stated that a faulty flue and exhaust pipe on a gas heating system caused the carbon monoxide leak, emphasizing the importance of safety precautions in homes to prevent such tragedies.

Upon receiving a call early Friday morning, the police found Haddon deceased on the second floor of the building and Walter Blucas unconscious on the first floor. Blucas was rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently in critical condition receiving treatment.
