The Long Island, New York, native, initially part of The Uptown Crew, formed in the 1980s in New York City. He later teamed up with Daryl “Chill” Mitchell and Belal “DJ Belal” Miller to create Groove B. Chill. The group’s debut studio album, “Starting From Zero” in 1990, featured hits like “Hip Hop Music.”

Groove B. Chill ventured into the TV and film industry with appearances in the 1990 comedy “House Party,” starring Kid ‘n Play, which has since become a cult favorite. Allen and Mitchell reprised their roles in “House Party 2” in 1991. Additionally, Allen had small acting parts in “Boomerang” (1992) and “What’s Love Got To Do With It” (1993), a biographical film about Tina Turner.

More recently, Allen dedicated his time to community service, organizing events to raise funds for military veterans, families, and women’s shelters.

Earlier this year, Allen hinted at an upcoming EP titled “Bring Back the Party.” He shared a video on Instagram rapping one of his songs, “Let It Breathe,” with the caption, “2025!!! I aint playing…” Fans expressed their condolences in the comments.

According to TMZ, Allen is survived by his wife and three children.
