Luke Combs has achieved his 18th Billboard Country Airplay chart-topper with his hit song “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma,” which has surged three spots to claim the No. 1 position on the list dated Sept. 28. The song saw a 12% increase in audience impressions, reaching 30.2 million from Sept. 13-19, as reported by Luminate.

Combs’ Success and Collaborations

Combs collaborated with Jessi Alexander and Jonathan Singleton on the single, which he also produced alongside Singleton and Chip Matthews. The track is featured on the soundtrack Twisters: The Album, which peaked at No. 3 on the Top Country Albums chart in August.

Interestingly, this marks the first time that Oklahoma has appeared in the title of a Country Airplay No. 1 song. Previously, the state was best represented when Vince Gill and Reba McEntire’s “Oklahoma Swing” reached No. 13 in 1990.

Combs’ recent success follows his previous hits, including Riley Green’s “Different ‘Round Here” (No. 2) and his own “Where the Wild Things Are” (No. 3) in February. Combs’ last chart-topper was his rendition of Tracy Chapman’s 1988 pop hit “Fast Car,” which held the top spot for five weeks starting in July 2023.

Hailing from Asheville, N.C., Combs has set a record with 14 consecutive Country Airplay No. 1s at the start of his career. His 18 chart-toppers since his debut with “Hurricane” in May 2017 are the most among all artists in that timeframe, surpassing Thomas Rhett and Morgan Wallen, who each have 14. Combs also holds the record for the most weeks at No. 1, with 52 weeks, ahead of Wallen’s 43.

Jelly Roll’s Continued Success

Jelly Roll has also been making waves on the Country Airplay chart, with his sixth consecutive top 10 hit, “I Am Not Okay,” climbing to No. 10 with 20.2 million audience impressions, a 19% increase.

Recently, Dustin Lynch’s “Chevrolet,” featuring Jelly Roll, became the latter’s fifth Country Airplay No. 1 song, adding to his string of hits that began with “Son of a Sinner” in January 2023. Jelly Roll’s success extends beyond country music, as he has also charted on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart with five entries from 2011-2016.
