Following BeatKing’s unexpected death on August 15 at the age of 39, his girlfriend Talameshia took to Instagram on August 21 to honor his memory. She expressed gratitude for his unwavering support and described him as her closest confidant during their time together.
“I don’t know if this makes it real. I don’t know if this helps or hurts me. I don’t know what version of him everyone else got,” Talameshia began. “But I know that I had the privilege of loving, laughing, and living with the best version of him. Above all, he was my dearest friend. My biggest cheerleader. He referred to me as his Superstar. We shared prayers. We played pranks on each other. We were truly just two big kids. I’ve questioned life. I’ve doubted my own strength through this. I’ve struggled to eat and sleep. I don’t know how I’m managing to function. I cry because I know he was prepared. He was content. He was loved. Watching you leave me has been the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to endure. I fought and fought, but God wasn’t relenting. I know you’re with your mom now, and finally dancing with our favorite, Michael Jackson.”
Talameshia also expressed her appreciation for the outpouring of support from fans and requested any videos or photos of BeatKing that supporters may have collected over the years to be sent to her.
“I see all the prayers and words of encouragement from everyone,” she continued. “It’s providing more comfort than you realize. Please send me any videos and photos you have of us or him. I’m sharing this for all of you. Because if you knew us, you know he would want me to keep moving forward. He would say, ‘Stop crying and release all that music.’ I love you all… and he loves you all… Until we meet again, Big Daddy.”
BeatKing’s manager, Tasha Felder, confirmed the tragic news on Instagram, revealing that the Houston rapper passed away from a pulmonary embolism after collapsing during a radio show.
