Big Sean Drops New Projects This Week

Published:

As the holiday weekend approaches, the world of hip-hop is buzzing with new projects to set the mood for the festivities. This week, a Detroit rapper makes a comeback with his sixth studio album after a four-year break, an artist signed to Playboi Carti’s Opium label under Interscope Records releases his sophomore project, and the first female rapper signed to Top Dawg Entertainment drops a mixtape with artwork inspired by a large reptile.

Big Sean Debuts His Better Me Than You Album

After a four-year hiatus, Big Sean returns with his sixth studio album, Better Me Than You. The album features collaborations with Cash Cobain, Kodak Black, Gunna, and more. Sean Don has been building anticipation for his new LP since March, starting with the release of his first solo single in two years, “Precision.” Unfortunately, his single was overshadowed by the release of Metro Boomin, Future, and Kendrick Lamar’s chart-topping record “Like That.”

Prior to the album’s release on DSPs, Sean dropped tracks like “Yes,” “Together Forever” featuring The Alchemist, and “On Up.” Despite facing alleged leaks after officially announcing the album in July, the 36-year-old artist persevered. Better Me Than You was initially scheduled for release on Aug. 9 but was later pushed back to Aug. 30.

Destroy Lonely Drops His Love Lasts Forever Album

Opium artist Destroy Lonely unveils his new album, Love Lasts Forever. Executive produced by Lil 88, the 21-track project includes the hit single “Luv 4 Ya.” To keep fans in the loop, he created the finsta @lovelastforever.us before the album’s release. Destroy Lonely also performed some of the album’s tracks during his set at Summer Smash in June. Originally planned for an April release, Love Lasts Forever was delayed as he added the finishing touches.
