The Mysterious Case of Dennoriss Richardson
Dennoriss Richardson, 39, was found dead on September 28, 2024, hanging from a rope inside a carport of a Colbert County, Alabama, house that he had no connection to.
The Department of Forensic Science in Huntsville quickly ruled his cause of death a suicide. However, Richardson’s estranged wife, Leigh Ann Richardson, tells AL.com that she absolutely does not believe that autopsy report.
Allegations of Police Brutality
Mrs. Richardson goes on to say that her husband was suing Sheffield, Alabama, police officers for brutality, alleging that the father of five was a regular victim of police brutality.
Dennoriss had a troubled past, having been arrested several times for various crimes. In his lawsuit, he claimed that he was subjected to severe physical abuse at the hands of law enforcement officers.
Following an arrest on January 9, 2024, Dennoriss reported that he tried to seek help during a medical emergency while in jail but was denied assistance and mistreated.
Family’s Quest for Justice
His wife Mrs. Richardson asserts that the arrest was meant to intimidate him into dropping the lawsuit against the officers. She believes that Dennoriss’ subsequent depression and fear of returning to prison were orchestrated by the authorities.
Despite the official ruling of suicide, Dennoriss’ mother, Bonita Richardson, maintains that her son was in a good mental state and would never harm himself.
