Dame Dash Speaks Out About Roc-A-Fella Auction Outcome
Recently, Dame took to his America Nu Network YouTube channel to address the sale of his stake in Roc-A-Fella Records at an auction where it was sold to the state of New York for $1 million. This amount fell significantly short of what Dame had anticipated, with only Jay-Z’s attorneys being present at the auction.
“I’m not sure what to make of it,” Dame expressed in a video posted on his channel. “Perhaps my child support will be covered. I never expected to receive any of that money anyway. I was under the impression that there was a greater love for [Jay-Z]. Unfortunately, no one showed up. Drake did make a bid of $6 million, but then he vanished. I have the proof in my DMs. It’s a bit perplexing. Apart from that, there was no interest in the stake.”
New York State Acquires Part Ownership of Roc-A-Fella Records
Following a court order in February, Dame was required to sell his one-third share in Roc-A-Fella to settle a debt of $823,000 owed to movie producer Josh Webber. Initially scheduled for August 29, the sale was postponed when the state intervened, claiming that Dame owed $1.7 million in unpaid taxes. The New York Department of Social Services also asserted that Dame had outstanding child support payments amounting to $223,000. The state has taken possession of the stake to recoup the funds owed by Dame.
In September, Dame revealed that Drake had reached out to him with an offer to purchase the stake. However, it appears that Drake had a change of heart regarding the deal.
