Having retired from Major League Baseball in 2014 after a remarkable 20-year career, the 50-year-old New York Yankees shortstop found love and married Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Hannah Jeter in 2016. Since then, they have been living a quiet life out of the spotlight in Florida.
Family Expansion
Following their marriage, the couple has joyfully welcomed four children into their lives – three girls and a boy.

“We want our kids’ lives to be as ‘normal’ as possible. They’re going to be born into such an extraordinary situation. They’re going to have to be some strong little people,” Hannah expressed. “We don’t want them to be defined by their dad’s name — for them, we want him to just be ‘Dad.’ That will be the piece of him they’ll have that the rest of the world doesn’t. It will be special, and it will be theirs.”
Their eldest daughter Bella Raine was born on August 17, 2017.
Expansion Continues
Hannah revealed their second pregnancy in September 2018 by flaunting her baby bump during a night out in New York City. Subsequently, their second daughter Story Grey was born on January 31, 2019.
The couple chose to keep their third pregnancy under wraps, surprising fans with the announcement of the birth of daughter River Rose on December 2, 2021, via a tweet from The Players’ Tribune.
A Full House
In another unexpected announcement, Derek and Hannah welcomed their son Kaius Green in May 2023, sharing the news on Instagram that he was born on May 5, 2023. Derek even humorously updated his Instagram bio to “Sleep-deprived father of four.”
Generally keeping their children out of the limelight, the family made a rare appearance at Yankee Stadium in September 2022 when Derek was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
