Are you tired of trying to subscribe to Disney Plus or Hulu on your iPhone, only to find out that it’s no longer possible? Recent support documents for Disney Plus and Hulu have indicated that new and returning subscribers can no longer sign up through Apple, according to MacRumors.
Curious about this change, as I’m not currently a subscriber to Disney Plus, I attempted to log into my account via the iOS app. However, after entering my credentials, a message appeared stating, “Unfortunately, this app doesn’t support in-app sign up. Finish setting up your account on the website. Create and manage your account at disneyplus.com/next.” Similarly, Hulu’s iOS app redirects users to the website if they try to log in without an active subscription.

It appears that this shift is aimed at preventing Apple from receiving a portion of the new subscription revenues for Disney Plus and Hulu. However, existing subscribers who signed up through Apple will continue to be billed through Apple.
When reached for comment, Disney did not provide an immediate response. This move follows a trend of companies, such as Netflix and Spotify, halting new subscriptions through their iOS apps in recent years.
