The Ozark and Stranger Things Stars in a New Venture
Known for their remarkable performances in Ozark and Stranger Things, Bateman and Harbour are gearing up to headline a new HBO limited series, DTF St. Louis. This seven-episode show is the brainchild of creator and showrunner Steven Conrad, the mastermind behind Wonder and Prime Video’s Patriot. Besides their acting roles, Bateman and Harbour will also serve as executive producers for the series.
Insights from HBO’s Executive VP
Chiming in on the announcement, Francesca Orsi, the executive VP of HBO Programming and head of HBO drama series and films, expressed her excitement. “Partnering with the genius storyteller Steve Conrad, known for his unique vision, makes us very excited. Having David Harbour and Jason Bateman, two mighty titans of the industry, at the center of the series only heightens our anticipation for the journey ahead. We are eager to share this special, emotionally provocative piece with the world when the time comes,” she stated.
About DTF St. Louis
DTF St. Louis, as described by HBO, is a dark comedy revolving around a love triangle among three adults grappling with midlife crisis, leading to a tragic end for one of them.
The Evolution of the Show
The development of the show has been in the pipeline for over two years, initially titled My Dentist’s Murder Trial. The series was inspired by a 2017 New Yorker story by James Lasdun and was supposed to star Harbour and Pedro Pascal. Pascal, however, exited the project, which has since evolved into an original story, not based on the magazine piece. Despite the changes, Lasdun remains an executive producer.
Production Team
The series will be executive produced by a team including Conrad, Bateman and Michael Costigan of Aggregate Films, Harbour, and several others from Escape Artists, Bravo Axolotl, and MGM Television.
Upcoming Projects
In other news, Bateman is slated to appear next in Netflix’s feature film Carry-On, premiering on Dec. 13. He is also set to star with Jude Law in a drama series titled Black Rabbit for the streaming platform in 2025. Harbour, on the other hand, will be seen in Marvel’s Thunderbolts and the final season of Stranger Things, both premiering next year.
Representation
As for representation, Bateman is managed by CAA, Lighthouse Management + Media, Hansen Jasobsen, and Shelter PR. Both Costigan and Aggregate Films also have representation with CAA and Lighthouse Management + Media.
