The Esports World Cup Foundation Expands Club Partner Program
The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) recently announced the expansion of its Club Partner Program, a strategic initiative aimed at supporting the esports club ecosystem globally. With an increased number of slots now available to 40 clubs, up from the previous 30, the program is set to receive a $20 million investment for this expansion phase. Interested clubs are encouraged to apply for membership by January 10, with successful applicants receiving six-figure funding to further develop their organizations.
Club Selection Process
Out of the 40 available slots, the EWCF plans to extend invitations to eight of the top clubs from the EWC 2024 Championship ranking, while the remaining 32 slots will be open for applications. Member clubs will be required to renew their membership on an annual basis. This year, the focus will be on key growth markets such as China, Southeast Asia, LATAM, and MENA. Clubs applying for membership must demonstrate a history of high competitive performance and possess an engaged fanbase on social media.
EWCF’s Vision for Club Partner Program
In a statement, Faisal bin Homran, the EWCF’s Chief Product Officer, emphasized the significance of the Club Partner Program in advancing the foundation’s mission to nurture a thriving ecosystem for esports clubs worldwide. The program aims to unlock opportunities for organizations in rapidly growing esports markets like China. Partnered clubs will have the chance to engage fans with compelling content beyond just the games, showcasing player personalities, talents, and origin stories. This approach will help in establishing the clubs’ brands as popular entities in the realm of esports entertainment.
Testimonial from Team Liquid
In a separate statement, Steve Arhancet, co-CEO of esports club Team Liquid, praised the inaugural program for its invaluable support in strengthening the club’s decision-making processes, particularly in expanding into new game titles. The program significantly contributed to one of the most successful competitive years in the club’s 24-year history, culminating in a strong second-place finish in the EWC 2024 Club Championship. Arhancet expressed excitement for the opportunities that the EWCF Club Partner Program in 2025 will bring, as Team Liquid continues to solidify its position as one of the most watched esports teams globally.
