During the sketch, Gardner portrayed NewsNation host Bobbi Moore, moderating a town hall on the AI revolution. Despite her best efforts, she couldn’t contain her laughter when her co-star Mikey Day appeared as Butt-Head, causing her to break character.

Gardner explained, “In that moment, I was supposed to be the straight man, but the unexpected sight of Mikey Day as Butt-Head caught me off guard.”

Recalling the incident, Gardner mentioned her close bond with Day and how his antics often make her laugh, leading to the memorable on-screen moment.

Gardner highlighted the camaraderie on set, where the cast members could sense when someone was about to break character, creating a ripple effect of laughter.

Describing the moment to the audience, Gardner shared, “They could see it coming because they were seeing Ryan and Mikey. I just don’t think anyone has ever had to blindly look back at something that shocking.”

Gardner confessed, “I had never seen him like that before, and the shock of it just broke me.”
