Some say attractiveness is worthy of melting for, especially when it’s particularly hot.
Netflix’s newest Christmas rom-com, “Hot Frosty,” features a fresh take on the beloved holiday figure. The film stars Christmas movie icon Lacey Chabert, who takes on the role of Kathy, a widow who conjures a handsome snowman to life, played by “Schitt’s Creek” graduate Dustin Milligan. His innocence enables Kathy to experience laughter, joy, and love again, all while falling for each other during the holiday season … before his inevitable melt.
Towards the end of the trailer, Chabert’s character is glimpsed watching Lindsay Lohan’s 2023 Netflix holiday film “Falling for Christmas.” In a humorous reference to their shared history in the 2004 film “Mean Girls,” she remarks, “That’s so funny. That looks just like a girl I went to high school with.”
In this holiday-oriented film, comedians Joe Lo Truglio and Craig Robinson, notably, provide humor as two police officers. The cast is further rounded off by Katy Mixon Greer, Lauren Holly, Chrishell Stause, Sherry Miller, Dan Lett, Matthew Stefiuk, Heleene Lohan Cameron, Allan Royal, Sarah Desouza-Coelho, and Bobby Daniels.
Director Jerry Ciccoritti helmed the film, with a script by Russell Hainline. The movie is produced by Joel S. Rice and Michael Barbuto, while Aren Prupas and Jonas Prupas act as executive producers.
Set to debut on November 13th on Netflix, “Hot Frosty” is part of the streaming platform’s series of new romantic holiday movies releasing each Wednesday in November. Other additions include the Christina Milian-led “Meet Me Next Christmas” on Nov. 6, “The Merry Gentlemen” starring Chad Michael Murray and Britt Robertson on Nov. 20, and Lindsay Lohan’s “Our Little Secret” on Nov. 27.
Inclusive of these rom-coms, Netflix’s holiday fare includes two NFL games on Christmas day, the Christmas-themed thriller “Carry On” with Taron Egerton, the animated movie “That Christmas,” Keira Knightley’s holiday mystery series “Black Doves” and Sabrina Carpenter’s “A Nonsense Christmas” special.
