Entirely founded and run by Black individuals, Impact Network has commissioned a half-hour workplace comedy titled “Highly Favored” from Bentley Kyle Evans.
“Impact Network CEO Wayne T. Jackson expressed enthusiasm about commencing production on their first-ever original scripted series, which will be in the capable hands of eminent producer Bentley Kyle Evans and his team at Harvest Studios.
“Highly Favored” promises to delve into the conflict between tradition and modernity as seen through the perspective of an old-school but charismatic pastor who grapples with modernizing his church to keep pace with changing times. He has to navigate through a comically eccentric cast of characters and an exuberant but well-intentioned family. The network has ordered six episodes, with the cast and premiere date to be announced in due course.
Evans expressed his excitement about collaborating with Impact Network on their debut original scripted series, stating that “Highly Favored” blends the humor and quirky characters of both ‘Amen’ and ‘The Office,’ making it ideal for the current times.
Evans assumes the role of executive producer, director, and showrunner on “Highly Favored” under Harvest Studios, with Trenten W. Gumbs also serving as executive producer. Royal W. Jackson, Impact Network’s executive vice president, is set to co-executive produce. Evans boasts a television career spanning over three decades, with credits on shows like “Martin,” “The Jamie Foxx Show,” “In the Cut,” “Family Time,” and many more.
Jackson emphasized that “Highly Favored” marks just the start of their investment in original programming, and their commitment to providing audiences with genuine family-oriented content that can’t be found elsewhere.
