Jamie Foxx is poised to open up about his life journey.
At 56 years of age, Foxx is making a triumphant return to the world of standup comedy through his recent collaboration with Netflix. The streaming giant has announced the premiere date for this eagerly anticipated project. Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was… special will make its grand debut on Netflix on Dec. 10, 2024, as revealed last Friday (Nov. 1).
Apart from revealing the release date, the star of They Cloned Tyrone, along with Netflix, has also given a sneak peek into what viewers can expect. “I said, ‘If I can stay funny, I could stay alive’ … I’m back,” the comedian shares in the preview.

Foxx is also set to delve into his medical emergency in April 2023 that resulted in his hospitalization and sparked speculation and conspiracy theories about the cause of his health crisis.
“Look, on April 11 last year, I had a severe headache, asked my friend for an Advil, and was out for 20 days. I don’t remember anything. I was in Atlanta, they told me—my sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor,” the Grammy-winning artist shared in July.
The special was announced earlier this year, with Foxx stating, “Everybody wants to know what happened, and I’m going to tell you what happened, but I have to do it my way. I’m going to do it in a funny way. I’m going to be on stage,” as he accepted the Producers Award from the African American Film Critics Association.
According to Variety, Foxx showcased the routine over a three-night stint in Atlanta the previous month. The streaming platform emerged as the winner in a fierce battle for the rights to the special.
The special boasts of Foxx as the executive producer, along with Datari Turner, Marcus King, James Longman, Raj Kapoor, Hamish Hamilton, and Katy Mullan. Hamilton also serves as the director.
