Jason Momoa as Lobo: Supergirl’s Nemesis

Jason Momoa Set to Star as Lobo in DC Studios’ Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow

When the DCEU finally came to a close last Christmas with James Wan’s subaqueous sequel Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, it seemed likely we had seen the last of Jason Momoa — aka Arthur Curry, aka the titular King of Atlantis — in the DC Universe. And yet, while Aquaman and the DCEU may be done and dusted, it appears that reports of Momoa’s exit from DC’s future plans have been greatly exaggerated. Per THR’s reporting, Momoa is set to make a heel turn as alien bounty hunter Lobo in DC Studios’ upcoming Milly Alcock starrer Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow. And former Game Of Thrones man Momoa took to Instagram to share the exciting news, as you can see below:

Momoa’s Long-Awaited Role as Lobo

Having long-since expressed desires to play the blue-skinned, foul-mouthed bounty hunter on screen, Momoa’s casting as Lobo — one of DC’s most popular comic book characters in the 90s (and a firm favourite among fans to this day) — makes a lot of sense. And though this news doesn’t come with any further information on what we can expect from Woman Of Tomorrow in terms of plot specifics or direction, or any definitive confirmation of I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie helming the Supergirl movie, Lobo’s presence only further affirms that the film will follow the story told in Tom King’s seminal 2022 comic book series of the same name.

Star-Studded Cast and Exciting Prospects

Momoa’s Lobo joins Matthias Schoenaerts’ lead villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley’s noble warrior — and Supergirl’s travelling companion — Ruthye Mary Knolle, and the aforementioned Alcock’s Maiden of Might Kara Zor-El in the movie, which has been written by Ana Nogueira (Teen Titans). And with a killer cast starting to come together, the perfect source material already in place, and the prospect of a second chance for one-man charisma cannon Jason Momoa to get the DC showcase he really deserves ahead of us, the pieces are starting to fall into place for Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow to really take flight when it hits cinemas on 26 June, 2026. And before then, there’s just the small matter of a certain Superman to attend to… we guess you could say things are starting to Look Up for DC Studios right about now.
