Jonathan Majors is making a comeback on the silver screen.

His previously postponed film, Magazine Dreams, has found a new home at Briarcliff Entertainment, as reported by Variety. The sports drama is slated for a 2025 theatrical release. The film first made its appearance at the Sundance Film Festival in 2023 and was initially picked up by Searchlight Pictures.

However, the production house decided to remove the film from its lineup after Majors was convicted of two misdemeanor charges in December 2023 – third-degree assault and second-degree harassment. These charges were related to an incident involving his ex-girlfriend in March 2023. Majors, however, was acquitted of intentional assault and aggravated harassment.

Magazine Dreams boasts a star-studded cast including Taylour Paige, Mike O’Hearn, Harrison Page, Haley Bennett, and Harriet Sansom Harris. The film, penned and directed by Elijah Bynum, tells the story of an aspiring bodybuilder striving for human connection amidst a backdrop of fame and violence, as per IMDb.

“Elijah’s film created quite a stir at Sundance and Briarcliff is excited to bring his narrative to the big screen nationwide in early 2025,” said Tom Ortenberg, CEO of Briarcliff, in a statement quoted by Variety.

“Jonathan Majors’ stellar performance as Killian Maddox is bound to be remembered as one of the most impactful and transformative roles in recent cinematic history. It is our privilege to bring this exceptional piece of work to cinemas across the country, offering audiences a narrative that will linger well past the end credits.”

As per Deadline, the 35-year-old actor underwent a rigorous training regime, consuming 6100 calories daily and working out six days a week over a four-month period to physically embody the steroid-powered character. The upcoming release of Magazine Dreams could mark a turning point in Majors’ career which was previously stalled due to his legal troubles.

In June, the star of Creed III secured his first role post-trial in Martin Villeneuve‘s forthcoming sci-fi revenge thriller Merciless.

“Merciless weaves together themes of possession, revenge, and personal justice within a chilling narrative,” Villeneuve elaborated in a statement. “It delves into the psychological downfall of John, portrayed by Majors, and the supernatural elements testing his sanity.”
