An Exciting New Venture: “The Growcodile”
Co-production of the upcoming family-oriented CG animated film “The Growcodile” has been taken up by Belgium’s Freaks Factory and the Netherlands’ Ka-Ching Cartoons. The film is slated to be delivered towards the end of next year.
Film Constellation, the sales agency for the film, has released a fresh exclusive still and is introducing a first teaser to potential buyers at the European Film Market.
Pre-sales for “The Growcodile” are already underway and include territories such as Poland (through Kinoswiat), Eastern Europe (via ProRom), CIS and Baltics (Volga), Portugal (Nos), Greece and Israel (Tanweer), Turkey and MENA (Italia Film), and Vietnam (Lumix). French distribution will be handled by KMBO, with discussions for other territories ongoing.
“The Growcodile” tells the story of Bridget, a young girl with an extraordinary secret: she is keeping a pet crocodile in her room. Despite the crocodile’s endearing nature, it continues to grow, becoming increasingly difficult to handle. Faced with parents who do not approve of pets and a father who has a penchant for crocodile leather for his shoe store, Bridget and her Grandma Nell embark on an adventurous journey to find Gilbert the Crocodile a suitable home.
The film’s directors are Joost Van Den Bosch and Erik Verkerk, both alumni of Cartoon Saloon, who have previously worked together on several shorts and popular series like “Skunk Fu.” The screenplay is adapted by Luuk van Bemmelen from the children’s book “Crocodile Came Within!” authored by Paul Van Loon.
The movie is being developed and produced by Fabrique d’Images, known for their work on “Stitchhead,” “My Fairy Troublemaker,” “Luis and the Aliens,” in collaboration with Freaks Factory, Ka-Ching Cartoons, Cool Beans, and Fantabulous.
Fantabulous is a French joint venture between distributor KMBO and production company Fabrique d’Images. Freaks Factory, on the other hand, is a joint venture between Frakas Prods., a Walloon production company, and Fabrique d’Images.
The film’s production team includes Mark Mertens from Fabrique d’Images, Vladimir Kokh from Fantabulous, Jean-Yves Roubin from Freaks Factory, and Richard Claus and Chantal Nissen from Cool Beans.
“The Growcodile” is the second collaboration between Film Constellation and the Trio Fabrique D’images, Freaks Factory, and Fantabulous, following their previous project “The Last Dinosaur.” The latter is a family adventure animation currently in production and set for release in the second quarter of 2026.
