In the realm of American politics, the potential for a consequential encounter is looming. Kamala Harris, the Vice President, has assented to an invitation proffered by CNN, intending to participate in a public discussion with prior President, Donald Trump. The speculative dialectic is scheduled for Oct. 23.
“Vice President Harris is prepared for yet another chance to share the spotlight with Donald Trump,” said campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon (CNN report). “Donald Trump should find no hesitation in conforming to this debate.”
Harris took to social media platform X/Twitter this past Saturday, expressing her eagerness for a subsequent presidential debate and expressing her anticipation for Trump’s participation.
However, the response from Trump to the debate invitation from CNN still remains elusive. The network has proposed a similar format to the June debate, where Trump and Harris would address the moderators queries over a 90-minute period without the presence of a live audience.

CNN, in a statement, asserted their belief in the value of a second debate between Vice President Harris and former President Trump. They stated, “We extended an invitation to both candidates to partake in a CNN debate this autumn. The motive is our belief that the American public would derive significant benefit from a second debate between the two candidates for President of the United States. We eagerly anticipate feedback from both campaigns so that the American public can glean more insights from these candidates as they decide.”
The inaugural presidential debate between Harris and Trump, supervised by ABC, took place on September 10 in Philadelphia. The two contestants delved into sensitive issues such as abortion and immigration. Additionally, Trump engaged in a debate with then-candidate Joe Biden in June on CNN.
Post the September debate, Trump expressed in an extended post on Truth Social, a resolute declaration, “There will be no third debate!”
