In the latest official trailer for The Six Triple Eight, Kerry Washington dons the uniform of Captain Charity Adams from the Women’s Army Corp. This Netflix offering, released on Monday (Nov. 25), offers a more in-depth exploration of the drama, which is based on the real-life story of the all-Black Women’s Army Corps unit, the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. This unit was in charge of tackling the enormous backlog of undelivered mail for U.S. service members stationed in England and France during the Second World War.
The film is a project of Tyler Perry, who not only wrote and directed it but also served as its producer. It features a cast of Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, Shanice Shantay, Oprah Winfrey, Susan Sarandon, and many other notable actors.
In the trailer, Washington makes a poignant statement to the Battalion members, “The soldiers have not heard from their loved ones and their loved ones have not heard from them. When there is no mail, there is low morale.”

The Six Triple Eight film draws its inspiration from the article titled Fighting A Two-Front War by Kevin M. Hymel, which was published in WWII History Magazine by Sovereign Media. The movie’s trailer showcases an original song by Diane Warren, performed by H.E.R., and choreographed by Debbie Allen. The film was first announced to the public in September 2022.
The filmmaker expressed his gratitude and joy on social media earlier this year, “You have no idea what it means to me to have been given the grace and the blessing to be able to tell THIS story!” He further added, “Every detail is dedicated to the memory of the 855 black women and women of color of the Six Triple Eight. When America needed hope, they delivered!”
The Six Triple Eight is expected to make its debut in select theaters starting from Dec. 6 and will premiere on the streaming service on Dec. 20. Stay tuned to watch the official trailer above.
