Discover the World of Lorn’s Lure: An Android’s Quest
If you enjoy bouncing around pixelated architecture while basking in the atmosphere of pathological sadness, save your time for September 20th, because that’s when Rubek’s first-person cavernous game Lorn’s Lure hits Steam. Oh, I’ve been waiting for this for a while. Check out the fresh trailer below.
Exploring Lorn’s Lure
Lorn’s Lure is the story of an android chasing a strange visual glitch through a expansive, bleak, dystopian structure built from retro 90s textures on PC. The game’s signature gimmick is that you can climb almost any surface with your pickaxes, as long as you have the stamina.
It can be tedious—I got to play through the demo a few years ago and got stuck under a huge slate overhang. But it’s also incredibly relaxing. There’s no rush to finish, no real lively threat element, and there’s a lot to keep you curious. Who exactly is this android you’re controlling? Why are they drawn to this bug? Who else inhabits this world?
The Appeal of Lorn’s Lure
“I like the megastructure, I like the abandoned megastructure, and I really like freely exploring the abandoned megastructure,” Alice0 (RPS in peace) wrote about Lorn’s Lure in 2023, effectively describing the progression of my own thoughts while playing the demo. If you’re intrigued, the demo is still available and was recently updated with a fresh introductory cutscene, Steam Deck compatibility, improved level design and fresh music, among many other additions.
