Mother’s Milk Actor Laz Alonso Breaks Character in The Boys Season 4 Scene

Being a part of the successful Prime Video series “The Boys” comes with its fair share of perks and challenges. Every actor on the show is bound to encounter at least one disturbing, stomach-turning scene. Starlight’s character, played by Erin Moriarty, had a lubricant mix-up during the “Herogasm” shoot, for instance. The Deep, portrayed by Chace Crawford, was scripted to eat his octopus friend, Timothy. The character Mother’s Milk, who suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and germophobia, often deals with bodily fluid scenes. Laz Alonso, who plays the role of MM, has experienced numerous such gross scenes, with season 4 featuring his most challenging moment yet.

In an episode of the podcast “The Midnight Boys,” Alonso revealed some insider details about shooting a particularly nauseating scene in the fourth season’s sixth episode, fittingly named “Dirty Business.” Mother’s Milk has often faced the brunt of disgusting situations, possibly more than any other character on the show. However, for Alonso, the scene in season 4 was the most challenging.

The Scene That Made Alonso Lose Character

Dan Mousseau on The Boys

Mother’s Milk has been through a lot on “The Boys,” from being doused with gallons of faux semen to handling a squirming love sausage. In season 4, he had to assist Web-Weaver, played by Dan Mousseau, inject drugs into his posterior. Initially, he mistakenly injects the syringe into Web-Weaver’s web-hole, just above his poop-hole. But he corrects himself, and Web-Weaver ends up shooting some web onto MM’s cheek. This situation would be a nightmare for anyone, let alone someone with OCD. Alonso also found it challenging to shoot this scene, as he mentioned on the podcast:

“I have shot a lot of disgusting things, as you know, on our show, but that’s the only scene in my entire career… that made me break character and scream. To protect the other actor, I won’t reveal what happened during the scene that made me lose character and scream in fear, apologizing profusely to that man for like an hour straight.”

It seems like there was an incident involving Alonso possibly touching Mousseau’s backdoor, which is quite traumatic for acting mishaps. It’s understandable why Alonso would scream and apologize profusely, considering the outrageous situations he’s found himself in on the series.

Web-Weaver’s Eccentricity Might Have Been Overboard

The incident with Web-Weaver is not the only time Alonso has had to deal with a gross scene on set; he also had an encounter with The Deep’s gills. However, he’s managed to handle it all with grace. It does raise questions about why there are so many extreme moments and how they affect the overall series. While some of the gross-out moments are entertaining, others go too far, and everything with Web-Weaver certainly crosses that line. The drug injection and webbing are somewhat amusing, albeit a bit sad and gross, but when Hughie, played by Jack Quaid, dons the Web-Weaver suit and gets sexually assaulted by Tek Knight, played by Derek Wilson, it’s way over the top.

It will be fascinating to see how “The Boys” team handles the fifth and final season and whether they will push the boundaries of nastiness further. Given the series’ escalating use of bodily fluids, deadly animals, and dark humor, we’re almost certain to be grossed out.
