A new Netflix docuseries is set to delve into the life and career of boxing legend Mike Tyson, taking viewers on a journey through his rise to fame, fall from grace, and eventual redemption.
As reported by Deadline, the yet-to-be-named docuseries will feature three episodes, each an hour long. The series will be directed and executive produced by Floyd Russ.
Upon the announcement of the docuseries, 58-year-old Tyson released a statement. He expressed his enthusiasm at collaborating with Netflix to offer a raw insight into his journey as an individual.

“I am thrilled at the chance to share my story through a reflective lens of growth and maturity in a multi-part documentary on Netflix. It will be challenging but ultimately a rewarding journey,” Tyson confessed.
“Many people are too frightened to view their lives objectively, preferring to see themselves as the hero of their own narrative. However, if we’re truly honest, we realize we can’t always be our own hero.
“We must face the man in the mirror and accept the good along with the bad to provide a complete account of our life contributions. Netflix, with its global outreach, is the perfect platform for narrating my story.”

Netflix, in a synopsis of the docuseries, stated that the project “will delve into the man behind the gloves.” It will touch on various moments throughout Tyson’s life and career, from his swift ascent as the “Baddest Man on the Planet,” to his personal struggles, including a stint in prison, widely publicized struggles such as financial issues, substance abuse, controversy in the ring, and ultimately his path to redemption.
Tyson, who hails from Brooklyn, made history in boxing by becoming the youngest heavyweight champion after defeating Trevor Berbick in 1986. He became the undisputed heavyweight champion the following year. After suffering his first career loss to Buster Douglas in 1990, Tyson served a prison sentence for a rape conviction in 1992. Upon his release in 1995, he regained the heavyweight title for the second time.

The second phase of Tyson’s career was marked by numerous controversial moments, such as the notorious biting incident with Evander Holyfield during their second match, and financial difficulties that led him to file for bankruptcy in 2003.
Since then, Tyson has successfully managed his financial issues and evolved into a successful media personality and entrepreneur. He has even returned to the boxing ring for exhibition matches against fellow boxing star Roy Jones Jr. and Jake Paul, a YouTuber turned boxer.
His match with Paul, which he lost by unanimous decision, became the most live-streamed sporting event in history.
