Having relocated to Nashville and after welcoming her first child with country music icon Keith Urban, Kidman, an Oscar winner, was considering leaving her acting career behind to fully embrace her new role as a mother. It was her mother’s encouragement, however, that prompted her to stay.

Kidman shared with CBS News, “After the birth of Sunday Kidman-Urban, I felt like I was essentially finished with acting. We were living on a farm, and that’s when my mother advised me to not entirely abandon it. She suggested I keep one foot in the acting world. I was insistent about being done, but she urged me to keep progressing, not necessarily at the same pace, but not to completely let go.”

Kidman reflected, “This advice came from a woman who belonged to a generation that didn’t have the opportunities that I have, opportunities that she had helped create for her daughters. This was probably something she wished she had when she was younger.”

Soon, Kidman will share the silver screen with Harris Dickinson in A24’s sensual thriller “Babygirl.” The movie, scheduled to be released on Christmas day, revolves around Romy (Kidman), a successful CEO who jeopardizes her career and family when she becomes romantically entwined with a much younger intern at her company (Dickinson).
