In May 2019, Jeff Bezos and his soon-to-be wife, Lauren Sánchez, made their first public appearance together. Shockingly, text messages from 2018 revealed that their relationship began while they were still married to other partners.

The National Enquirer exposed the affair in January 2019, claiming that Bezos had sent Sánchez “sleazy text messages and gushing love notes.”

Some of these intimate messages have resurfaced, shedding light on the scandal.

Revealing Text Messages

Among the texts was a peculiar five-word statement from Bezos: “I love you alive, girl.” Followed by a more direct message, “I will show you my body, and my lips and my eyes, very soon.”

As the private messages and affair came to light, Bezos took legal action against the tabloid and its publisher, American Media Inc. (AMI), and its owner, David Pecker. Bezos accused AMI of extortion and blackmail, claiming they threatened to publish revealing photos of him unless he halted the investigation into the leaked messages.

Uncovering Blackmail Tactics

In a blog post on Medium, Bezos delved deeper into the investigation, suggesting that AMI’s blackmail tactics had political motives. He revealed that Pecker had an immunity deal with the Department of Justice related to their involvement in the “Catch and Kill” process for President Trump’s election campaign.

As the owner of The Washington Post, Bezos shared transcripts of correspondence between Pecker and the tabloid’s members, shedding light on their intentions.

One email exchange, initiated by the Inquirer’s editor, Dylan Howard, hinted at more compromising photos of Bezos, including “below the belt” selfies and images of him in revealing attire. They also claimed to have similar photos of Sanchez.

Despite the pressure of alleged blackmail, Bezos stood his ground, refusing to succumb to the threats of personal cost and embarrassment.
