Details of the Deal

As per the terms disclosed by Maximum Entertainment, the company will retain all rights to popular titles such as Smalland: Survive the Wilds, Bramble: The Mountain King, Pixelshire, Morbid: The Lords of Ire, and Sunnyside. However, 90 of Merge Games’ titles, including Spirit of the North, are part of the divested assets. CEO Statement

Philippe Cohen, CEO of Maximum Entertainment, expressed his thoughts on the agreement, stating, “This deal marks a significant step in improving Maximum Entertainment’s financial position and addressing our liabilities. Silver Lining Interactive, established by Merge’s founders, is an ideal partner for this divestment. By entrusting these IPs to capable hands, we aim to set them up for success, while enabling Maximum Entertainment to focus on our flagship titles that we believe will drive value well into the future.”

Company Restructuring

Merge Games faced challenges in 2024, leading to layoffs and the eventual integration with Maximum Entertainment following the closure of its Chelford office. Reports indicate that the majority of Merge Games’ employees were let go during this transition, leaving only a small team behind.
