This week’s episode of “Saturday Night Live” welcomes one of its previous hosts, the renowned Michael Keaton, marking his fourth host appearance since his initial visit in 1982. Keaton expressed his thrill over hosting the 50th season of the legendary show, also reflecting on his career standing back when the program first took off.
Keaton nostalgically mentioned his early days, working as a production assistant for ‘Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.’ Surprisingly, he found prominent parallels between SNL and Mr.Roger’s show during the 70s, countless puppets, and a fair share of cocaine notwithstanding. Keaton acknowledged Fred Rogers and his esteemed character, perceiving him as everyone else did.
Keaton also briefly discussed the recently premiered “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”; an anticipated sequel that let him reprise his hallmark character from the initial “Beetlejuice” back in 1988.

As Halloween is approaching, Keaton is anticipating an influx of young Beetlejuice impersonators, which he finds endearing. On a lighter note, he humorously highlighted the less appealing sight of middle-aged men opting to dress up as his iconic character.

Mikey Day made a notable appearance, dressing up as Beetlejuice, complete with the trademark green hair and striped attire. Upon meeting Keaton, he expressed his admiration for the movie and asked Keaton, or Mike as he preferred, for a little favor – to mimic Beetlejuice’s signature line: “It’s showtime”.
Keaton, amusingly enough, seemed to have momentarily forgotten how the iconic line was said. This was when Andy Samberg joined in, also adorned as Beetlejuice.
Samberg, apparently recalling the line, nonchalantly reminded Keaton. Following a small dialogue about his unsuccessful attempts to incorporate his Beetlejuice persona into the SNL shows during his tenure, Samberg urged Keaton just to refer to him as Beetlejuice rather than with the abbreviated initials. Sticking to the movie’s storyline, Samberg humorously warned max-width: 48rem) calc( 90vw – 2rem )” height=”” width=”” decoding=”async”>
Keaton about the catastrophic consequences of calling out Beetlejuice’s name three times.
During the conversation, Keaton spotted the cast member Sarah Sherman lurking in her striped dress, which he mistakenly assumed to be another Beetlejuice outfit. Sarah later confirmed that it was merely her regular attire.
Keaton then observed the frequent references to the original “Beetlejuice” film and asked whether they had seen the sequel yet.
Day, Samberg, and Sherman assertively replied that it was on their list, simultaneously coaxing him into doing the iconic Beetlejuice voice. Keaton obliged, announcing “We got a great show for you tonight!” in his Beetlejuice character and welcomed Billie Eilish as the night’s musical dimension.
