Sea of Thieves Season 14 Update: New Stealthy Features Arriving Soon
Sea of Thieves’ 14th season is almost upon us; Rare has confirmed it’ll be bringing a whole bunch of new stealthy treats to its multiplayer pirate adventure on 17th October.
What to Expect in Season 14
When last we heard hints of Season 14, it was all the way back in March, when Rare laid out its content plans for 2024. As per March’s roadmap, Season 14 is all about introducing a stealthier, more mischievous style of play to Sea of Thieves, with new additions set to include a crouch ability, hanging off the side of ships, and even disguising yourself in a chest to move undetected.
New Features and Gameplay Elements
Additionally, players can look forward to using a multi-purpose blow dart to lure skeletons and trigger sound effects, as well as placing spring traps in the world. The introduction of the grappling gun tool will allow pirates to move swiftly around the environment and interact with objects in new ways.
Director Drew Stevens highlighted the limitations of the grappling gun, ensuring fair play for all crews. While some restrictions apply, such as not being able to bypass entry points on smaller ships, the tool adds new strategic elements to ship-to-ship encounters.
In Season 14, access to a ship’s armory is restricted to its own crew, requiring invading crews to plan tactically before engaging in combat. Outposts will also offer new items for purchase, including unique clothing, accessories, and cosmetic upgrades.
Upcoming Events and Rewards
Leading up to Season 14’s release, a Gilded Voyages event will run from 10th to 17th October, offering players the chance to earn valuable loot for various factions. A weekend of Twitch Drops from 17th-21st October will feature exclusive cosmetic items for players to collect.
