Now that he has a bronze medal, Stephen Nedoroscik — also known as “Pommel Horse Guy” — is ready to go for the Mirrorball Trophy.

Dancing with the Stars announced Thursday that the pommel horse specialist on the men’s gymnastics team, fresh off his winning performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, is joining the ABC series.

Nedoroscik is the first celebrity cast in the Emmy-winning reality show’s upcoming 33rd season. His competitors will be announced later, but not too much later, because the show returns next month.

The U.S. Olympian was a hit with audiences for his glasses that sent Clark Kent vibes and for his heroism. He was sent to the games strictly for the one event, and he more than delivered. Not only did Nedoroscik take home that individual medal, but he helped his team reach the podium for the first time in 16 years. Viewers were also fans of his personality: He can solve a Rubik’s Cube in seconds and labels himself as “nerdy.”

Cast and Judges

A few of Nedoroscik’s castmates are known. Cohosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough will return, as will judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough.

Julianne Hough was asked Sunday on Watch What Happens Live to name a champion on the show who had a strong fanbase but whose win she “strongly disagreed” with. When fellow guest Mickey Guyton suggested season 18 comedian and radio personality Bobby Bones, Hough agreed.

Memorable Moments

Bones responded on Instagram the following day: “I was the worst dancer. I take pride in that,” Bones said. “Now, I tried as hard as anybody in the history of the show, but I can’t dance now, couldn’t dance then. But you know who took down the big evil empire of dance? Well, it’s not evil or an empire — but me and you! We did it together.”
