Tayvoodoo, the Prophecy, the Alchemy — call it what you want, but the fact remains that Taylor Swift has several connections to Super Bowl 2025, and the Big Game in general.
And no, we’re not just talking about the obvious, which is that her boyfriend Travis Kelce, star tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is playing in the NFL’s biggest night. Turns out, lots of little Easter eggs tie back to Swift in some way, from the pregame show to halftime and even a long connection to the other team vying for the trophy — the Philadelphia Eagles.
So, as Swift is expected to be in attendance (for the second year in a row) at Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, Entertainment Weekly is taking a look back at all of the little invisible strings between the singer-songwriter and the Big Game.

Only mad love, here! Kendrick Lamar is headlining the Super Bowl halftime show this year, and who could forget the rapper and Swift teaming up for the remix of her 1989 track “Bad Blood” and its subsequent kick-ass music video? Surely not the Swifties, who loudly and proudly chanted his lyric “you forgive, you forget, but you never let it go” during Swift’s performance of “Bad Blood” every night on Eras Tour. The two are still friendly — Swift could be seen toasting Lamar from the audience as he accepted Song of the Year at the Grammys just last weekend — so while fans shouldn’t expect her to join him onstage at halftime, they can certainly expect to see her enjoying his show.

Swift has a lifelong connection to the opposition — say it isn’t so! The 14-time Grammy winner will be rooting for the Chiefs on Sunday, obviously, but she grew up in a pro-Eagles household. Her family — father Scott Swift in particular — are longtime fans of the Philly team, having lived in Pennsylvania for many years. Taylor even put her fandom into a song. In the track “Gold Rush” off her 2020 album Evermore, she sings, “I see me padding across your wooden floors / With my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door.” There was some debate over whether or not the singer meant the Eagles band or the football team, but she later confirmed at her Eras Tour stop in Philadelphia in May 2023 that it was the latter. “There was sort of a, I don’t know how large the debate was, the debate about I have a lyric that says, ‘my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door,’” she explained to the crowd. “I saw some people wondering if it was the band the Eagles or the team the Eagles. Guys, like, come on, I’m from Philly — of course it’s the team.”

Those tuning in before the game will be treated to another Swift connection. Post Malone, who is featured on the Tortured Poets Department lead single “Fortnight” and its Swift-directed music video, is headlining the Super Bowl LIX YouTube Tailgate Concert, the league’s ultimate pregame party, exclusively livestreamed on YouTube. The concert is set to take place just steps away from Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday, before the championship game starts. Fans can tune in to the NFL’s YouTube channel at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT to watch Posty perform.

A future collab perhaps? Jon Batiste, who is performing the national anthem before the game this year, hasn’t technically collaborated with Swift (yet!), but still has a connection with her nonetheless. The Oscar- and Grammy Award-winning artist has performed a cover of her song “Sweet Nothing,” and has expressed interest in making music with Swift in the future. “I just went to the Taylor Swift concert, and it would be fun to do something with Taylor,” he told PEOPLE in 2023. “She was nice enough to invite us and give us tickets to one of her MetLife Stadium shows over Memorial Day weekend. I’d love to work with any of the living legends, you know, any folks that I can learn something from — even if we don’t put it out.”

Fans have been clamoring for Swift to perform the halftime show for years, and back in 2022, it looked like it just might no longer only be a fantasy in Swifties’ wildest dreams. It was reported at the time that she was in talks to headline at the 2023 Super Bowl, but in the end, she declined due to scheduling. (According to TMZ, it was because she was busy re-recording her first six albums, but she would also go on to announce the Eras Tour later that year, which ultimately spanned from March 2023 to December 2024.) As for the future, a source tells EW never say never, so here’s to hoping all the dominoes cascade in a line to make it happen for the “Mastermind” eventually!
