The Legacy of Kain franchise is making a comeback in 2024 with a graphic novel titled Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver – The Dead Shall Rise. The novel serves as a prequel, revealing the backstory between Kain and Raziel and the way Raziel first grew to become an undead warrior. The guide is a collaboration between Crystal Dynamics and Bit Bot Media, written by Joshua Viola and Angie Hodapp, with artwork by Juan Samu and covers by Dave Rapoza and Aaron Lovett. The crowdfunding marketing campaign for the novel presents many extras, and a trailer has been launched. The guide additionally options further artwork by Jonny Bush and Ninja Jo, with narrative steerage by Brent Friedman and artistic path by Crystal Dynamics.
