Joining the Cast
The 29-year-old former Gossip Girl star recently joined the show as a new love interest for Grace Van Patten’s character, Lucy. He plays the role of Leo, a junior at Baird who returns to campus after studying abroad for a year. Leo finds himself immediately drawn to Lucy, who is portrayed by Van Patten. While he appears kind and charming, Lucy is unsure if she can fully trust him. Leo ends up becoming entangled in the toxic relationship between Lucy and Stephen, played by Jackson White.
Initial Reservations
In a recent interview, Thomas admitted to having some reservations about joining the show, particularly knowing that Grace and Jackson are dating in real life.
“Obviously, Jackson and Grace are dating in real life, so I was like, ‘Oh,’ but no, [he] was absolutely professional and as was I, and yeah, it was so chill,” he shared with People. “People always say, they’re always like, ‘It’s your job, you’re an actor.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, I know, but still, f—ing hell.’”
Amazing Experience
Despite his initial concerns, Thomas described his time on the show as “such an amazing experience.” He praised the cast and crew, referring to them as “amazing” as well.
“Just the whole environment — best craic I’ve ever had in my life,” he expressed. “And working in Atlanta was really, really special. So yeah, it was just an amazing experience.”
Working with Grace
Thomas also shared that Grace played a significant role in his decision to join the show, as he was excited about the opportunity to work with her.
“For some reason, I thought I was going to go meet Lucy,” he recounted of their first meeting, before their chemistry read.
He noted that Grace is quite different from her character, Lucy, showcasing her skill in acting. “If I had to do the rest of my career working with Grace, I’d be a happy man. She’s just an incredible human being, incredible actor, so funny, so smart. And yeah, just a wonderful, wonderful human,” he gushed.
