History of Top 100 DJs
Top 100 DJs originated in the UK in 1993 as a curated list by DJ Mag to commemorate its 100th edition. Over the years, the poll and its associated award shows gained popularity, leading to a move from London to Amsterdam due to its growing scale. Initially a standalone event during ADE, the show eventually became a key part of AMF.
Transition to Broadcast Event
Due to the pandemic, DJ Mag and AMF collaborated on a broadcast show from various locations in Amsterdam. This move led to the decision to convert the Awards show into a broadcast event, with notable moments such as Martin Garrix’s broadcast set atop the Empire State Building.
