President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Andrew Ferguson as the new chair of the Federal Trade Commission, replacing Lina Khan. Ferguson’s appointment has been praised by Vice President-elect J.D. Vance for his stance against big tech.
Trump expressed his confidence in Ferguson, citing his track record of challenging Big Tech censorship and defending freedom of speech in the United States on Truth Social.
A leaked document obtained by Punchbowl News’ Ben Brody reveals Ferguson’s plans to counter Lina Khan’s anti-business agenda, hold big tech accountable, combat censorship, protect freedom of speech, and address wokeness issues. The document also mentions Ferguson’s intention to oppose the “trans agenda.”
Although Ferguson was sworn in as an FTC commissioner in April, Trump announced that he would officially assume the role of chair from day one of his administration.
In a post on X, Ferguson pledges to end Big Tech’s suppression of competition and free speech, positioning America as a global leader in technology innovation.
Furthermore, Trump revealed his nomination of Mark Meador, a current antitrust law firm partner, for an FTC commissioner role.
