The upcoming faith-inspired film from the renowned duo of Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin has unveiled its star-studded cast.
The movie, christened R&B, features an impressive line-up of talented actors such as Serayah, Tyler Lepley, Phylicia Rashad, Walnette Santiago, Nijah Brenea, James Lee Thomas, Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, Jermaine Dupri, and Lecrae Moore. The director’s chair is occupied by Alanna Brown, while the script is penned by the duo of Michael Elliot and Cory Tynan, according to Deadline.
As per the sources, R&B is a contemporary adaptation of the biblical love story of Ruth and Boaz. Set against the backdrop of Tennessee, the narrative follows a young woman who leaves the bustling Atlanta music industry to care for an elderly widow. In the course of her journey, she stumbles upon her true love and discovers a mother figure she never had.

This film marks the inaugural project from Franklin and Perry’s multi-picture, multi-year first-look agreement with Netflix, which was made public earlier this year.
The media tycoon expressed his excitement about collaborating with DeVon on this and subsequent projects. He believes that in this increasingly polarized world, their shared aim of spreading positivity finds the perfect platform in Netflix.
On R&B, Franklin and Perry don the hats of producers, while the executive production is handled by Angi Bones, Tony L. Strickland, and Bart Lipton. Perry, under a separate 2023 agreement with Netflix, has two more releases lined up – The Six Triple Eight featuring Kerry Washington, and the series titled Beauty In Black.
