Warning: This article is laden with spoilers for the second part of “Cobra Kai” season 6.
Known for his distinct aggression, Kwon Jae-Sung (Brandon H. Lee) of the South Korean Cobra Kai dojo is a short-lived villain. In the final episode of “Cobra Kai” season 6 part 2, “Eunjangdo,” Kwon enthusiastically participates in the massive fight initiated by the disqualified Russian Sekai Taikai team. He combats nearly every new generation character within minutes.
However, his dynamic, spin-filled fighting style is eventually bested by the season’s Ivan Drago lookalike, Axel Kovačević (Patrick Luwis). Bloodied and frustrated, Kwon retrieves John Kreese’s (Martin Kove) fallen Eunjangdo blade and performs a final acrobatic attack, only to be countered by Axel. Kwon falls and accidentally impales himself with the Eunjangdo, shocking all spectators with a terrifying death cry. The room is left in stunned silence as the credits roll. Did that really just occur?
The death of such a key character is an unprecedented way to conclude the second part of the final “Cobra Kai” season. Co-creator Hayden Schlossberg revealed to Variety that the shock factor was entirely intentional:
“We designed Kwon as the new significant antagonist for this second segment. His death at the hands of another adversary was a twist we eagerly anticipated.”

Most significant “Cobra Kai” characters have brushed with death at some point. From Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña) falling from a height after clashing with Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) in one episode, to various senseis attempting to cause lethal harm with fists, feet, and even blades in another. By the season’s end, the most blatant villains face defeat, the misguided come to their senses, and everyone survives to duel another day. The actual casualties usually occur in flashback scenes, such as a young Kreese (Barrett Carnahan) being forced to fight his even more malevolent captain (Terry Serpico) to the death.
Season 6, however, presents a departure. Here, a dark secret of Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) is revealed: he once killed a man in Sekai Taikai. The episode “Eunjangdo” opens with a nightmare where Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) experiences the fight from the victim’s perspective. With an AI version of the deceased Morita appearing for good measure, the episode ends with Kwon’s gruesome on-screen death, signaling that all bets are off.
The last season of “Cobra Kai” has been divided into three segments, with one block still remaining. Given the show’s trajectory, it’s plausible to expect more deaths. Currently, the most dangerous player is undoubtedly Kreese, who drops the deadly Eunjangdo while attempting to murder his former friend, Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith). But who can predict the future? Who knows who might die when “Cobra Kai” season 6 part 3 premieres on February 13, 2025?
