Warner Music Brazil’s Expansion in the Local Music Scene
Warner Music Brazil recently announced a series of measures aimed at enhancing its impact on various local music genres. These initiatives reflect the company’s strong commitment to expanding its presence in the competitive music market.
Commitment to Growth
“As we focus on strengthening our regional approach and aligning with our global leadership, it is essential for us to expand our footprint in Brazil, the ninth largest music market in the world,” stated Alejandro Duque, president of Warner Music Latin America. “While we have had a significant presence in the country, we recognize the need to further support its diverse musical landscape.”
Leadership Team Enhancements
To support this vision, Leila Oliveira, president of Warner Music Brazil, has appointed Tatiana Cantinho as general manager and Mariana Frensel as director of marketing. Both individuals have already assumed their roles and will be based at the company’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.
Redefining the Record Company Role
“Warner Music Brazil is reshaping the traditional role of a record company in our rapidly evolving industry. We must be more agile than ever in connecting artists with their fans and creating a supportive environment for talent to thrive,” expressed Cantinho. “With the current pace at which music travels, we aim to empower artists from diverse backgrounds to take center stage.”
Industry Experience and Expertise
With over two decades of industry experience, Cantinho has held regional positions at Sony Music and led the independent label Som Livre before establishing her own music company, Stamina Musical, in 2022.
On the other hand, Frensel returns to Warner Music Brazil after serving as the international label manager from 2011 to 2015. Her recent role follows an eight-year tenure at Match Group, where she held the position of director of revenue and growth for new verticals.
Strategic Vision for Growth
“This is a pivotal moment for Warner Music Brazil,” Oliveira emphasized. “The addition of Tatiana and Mariana to our leadership team will enable us to redefine industry norms in the region. Our specialized teams will enhance our ability to support artists and connect Brazilian talent with audiences worldwide.”
Focus on Key Brazilian Genres
Warner Music Brazil is restructuring its A&R and marketing departments to concentrate on key Brazilian genres such as sertanejo, forró, samba, funk, and urbano music. Marcos Kilzer will continue to lead the A&R team in collaboration with Cantinho.
Enhanced Creative Services
The newly-formed Creative Services team, led by Thiago Abreu reporting directly to Oliveira, will provide support to both marketing and A&R departments, focusing on brand partnerships and live music projects.
Continued Growth and Investment
These initiatives are part of Oliveira’s efforts since becoming the first female label head in Brazil in 2022. Recently, Warner Music Brazil established its new headquarters in Rio’s Barra da Tijuca and invested in Sua Música group in collaboration with ADA Brazil to nurture regional talent.
