Six months after Waxahatchee released her latest album Tigers Blood, the talented singer Katie Crutchfield appeared on CBS Mornings’ “Saturday Sessions” to perform three tracks from the LP.
For the mini-set, Waxahatchee performed “Crowbar,” the title track “Tigers Blood,” and the single “Right Back to It” (without MJ Lenderman, who features on the studio version) with her backing band.
Tigers Blood, the sixth studio album by Waxahatchee and one of Rolling Stone’s Best Albums of 2024 So Far, was released in March. During the same month, Crutchfield discussed the album with Rolling Stone, following up on her acclaimed 2020 LP Saint Cloud.
“In the past, I’ve anxiously listened to my records before they come out a lot, searching for mistakes — and then of course finding them because I’m searching for them,” Crutchfield said, emphasizing the perfection of Tigers Blood. “Every word is in the correct place. Every melody is just right. There’s no question marks. There’s no need to obsess over every little detail.”
Although the album was released in March, it had been completed about a year before its release. “I made the record a year ago, so I’ve been in this anxious headspace for a long time, and it’s been getting more and more ramped up,” Crutchfield shared with Rolling Stone. “And now we’re finally here. The band I’ve put together for this tour is really cool. I think that the shows are going to be really cool.”
